Preparatory Treatment Technology of Printed Circuit Board Metal Surface

In order to meet today’s harsh technical standards, the surface state of printed circuit boards is a key factor. Therefore, metal PCB manufacturers in various countries spend a lot of time and money to adjust the metal surface by deburring, cleaning, brushing and grinding. Among all the materials with surface adjustment, non-woven products have the best effect.

When non-woven materials are used for polishing, brushing and deburring, they have the advantages of high strength, good durability and long service life. The plasticity of the material can be adapted to the plate with more complex shape. Non-woven materials can give many products the desired uniform polishing, brushing and appearance requirements. The key to the excellent performance of non-woven material is its spring back and hollow structure. This structure allows cold operation, thus preventing the plate from warping and surface deformation.

1. The abrasive analysis of grinding wheels can be divided into six types at present:

1). In the series of abrasives, the grinding wheel has the most cutting ability. It is specially designed for grinding materials. It can quickly cut large defects from the hardest surface.
2). Abrasive cloth or sandpaper, perhaps the most widely used form of abrasive, can be used not only in metal processing, but also in other areas (such as plastic surface processing), with good polishing effect.
3). Steel wire wheel, used for the treatment of serious defects on metal surface.
4). Nylon fiber brush, used for the treatment of slight defects on metal surface or oxide film.
5). The polishing cloth wheel can cut a small amount of metal and provide mirror polishing.
6). Non-woven abrasives are ideal materials for controlling material cutting and surface cleaning. Abrasive particles are bonded to the surface of the synthesized circular cylinder and deburred or brushed at different speeds relative to the surface of the plate to achieve the ultimate goal of pretreatment.

2. Cleaning and brushing

Quartz sand is the most widely used material in PCB manufacturing process for cleaning and brushing. There are four different types and sizes of quartz sand for cleaning and polishing materials. Quartz sand is made of alumina, silicon carbide, aluminium silicate, talc powder, etc. The material is used to produce various products, including cleaning and polishing rollers, printed circuit board brushes, etc.

3. Surface speed of wheel

The surface speed of the wheel is an important factor. Higher speed provides a good surface condition. Especially, it is ideal to use high wheel speed to remove burrs after drilling. However, excessive wheel speed will cause overheating on the brushed surface, which will reduce the product life and scrap.

4. Pressure

When deburring, appropriate pressure is required according to the thickness of plate and copper foil, and excessive pressure will lead to a decrease in product life. The principle of pressure is based on the state and requirements of the plate. Use as little pressure as possible to achieve the desired technical results.
